'The way we are'
An exploration of my Grandmothers recent stroke and its physical and emotional after effects on us both.
On February 1st 2012, my Grandmother who I live with suffered a Hemorrhagic Stroke. After 9 weeks in hospital and a Rehabilitation home, she was finally allowed to come back home. Since being back, I have almost taken on the role of 'Carer'.
Unfortunately, the stroke has left Nan with short term memory loss, attention issues, confidence problems and loss of vision in the left side of both eyes.
For people in Nan's position, it is almost as if the left side of the world does not exist.
My visual approach of removing information from the left hand side imagery reflects this sight loss.
The project formed a book which combines my own diary text and photographs and explores my own thoughts, anxieties and fears about how life has majorly changed for both my Grandmother and myself.
